Coach Scott Jones - 2000-2009


Scott Jones created the Mustang program from the ground up in 2000 and served as the head coach from 2000-2009. Coach Jones, a 1985 graduate of the University of Georgia, contributed to the growth of football in Cobb Co. for over 25 years beginning in 1980 at Sprayberry as a player, North Cobb High School (1985-1995), as an assistant coach, and prior to his arrival at the Mountain he spent time as the head coach and Athletic Director at South Cobb High School from 1995-2000. Since leaving KMHS Coach Jones again served as an assistant coach at North Cobb from 2010-2011 before being hired as the head football coach at North Paulding High School in Paulding Co. in 2012.


Coach Chad McGehee - 2010-2011


Chad McGehee, a graduate and football alumni of the University of Alabama, came to the Mountain for his first season as head coach from Parkview High School for the 2010 season. Prior to his time at Parkview, he was the Head Coach at Elkmont High School in Alabama. He took over a program at Elkmont that had been 1-9 for two consecutive seasons and led them to their first winning season in 5 years. Prior to that position, he served as Defensive and Special Teams Coordinator at Grayson High School. He assisted in starting the Grayson Football program going 25-10 in their first four years, including the school’s first Region Championship and back to back playoff appearances. Coach McGehee is currently the Defensive Coordinator at North Cobb High School.


Coach Andy Scott - 2012-Present

Coach Scott enters his 3rd year at Kennesaw Mt..He came to Kennesaw Mt. from Lee Co. High School where he served as the Defensive Coordinator for the Trojans in 2011. Before moving to Lee County Coach Scott was the Defensive Coordinator and Associate Head Coach at Walnut Grove High School in Loganville, Ga. Prior to coming to Walnut Grove he was the Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Perry High School. While at Perry as the Head Football Coach, he compiled a record of 27-29 taking the Panthers to the State Playoffs in three of the five years as Head Coach, even taking Perry to the Quarter-Finals in 2007.


Coach Scott is originally from McMinnville, TN where he attended Warren County High School and played football and baseball. Following high school he played football at both Memphis State University and Middle Tennessee University, where he received his Bachelors, before returning home to coach at Warren County. Coach Scott then obtained a Masters in Education while serving as a graduate assistant at Middle Tennessee University. Coach Scott came to Georgia in 1996 and has not left making stops in LaGrange (Troup Co.), and Douglas (Coffee Co.) before his time at Perry, Walnut Grove and Lee Co. Coach Scott and his wife Claudia have a son Justin who is sixteen.


Coach Scott has a plan to get KMHS on the right track and in his own words; “As your Head Football Coach, we will do the little things right, from the way we warm-up on Friday Nights to how our players act in class. I am going to run this program the way that I believe it should be run to give us an opportunity to win on a consistent basis and that is with a great deal of discipline. We must “Build a Program”, not just field a TEAM, establishing something that will stand the test of time.
